지난 2월 7일 GMA Awards의 후보자가 발표되었다. 올해부터 Dove Awards에서 GMA Awards로 이름을 바꿔 진행되는데, 예년에 비해 보름정도 빨라진 4월 13일에 내쉬빌에서 열린다.
올해에 단연 돋보이는 후보 아티스트는 Casting Crowns와 Switchfoot.
2004년 CCM 시장이 성장하는데 중추적인 역할을 한 만큼 대중적인 그들의 인기가 반영되어 최다 노미니에 올랐다. 컴필레이션 앨범을 제외하면 Casting Crowns는 lead singer인 Mark Hall의 후보선정을 포함하여 10 부문에 걸쳐 후보로 선정되었으며, Switchfoot도 마찬가지로 Jonathan Foreman의 노미네이션까지 합쳐 7개 부문에서 후보에 올랐다.
